Dr. B. T. Rudresh is an exceptionally visionary leader in the field of homeopathic medicine. He stands out as a singular personality who has propelled the homeopathic system of medicine into the mainstream of popular perceptions. He has achieved this commendable feat through a sustained campaign in the public domain.
Exemplifying the embodiment of a model human being, Dr. Rudresh has played a multitude of roles as a homeopathic practitioner, teacher, counsellor, author of popular books, documentary film maker, columnist, popular television personality, a social scientist and above all a crusader for social justice. In all he stands as a role model for anyone aspiring for a committed social personality, not just in homeopathic domain, but life in general.
As a radio doctor, he has presented programs on the various radio stations covering wide areas of interest to general public. He has recently delivered a thirteen episode radio talk on Homoeopathy for general public on 106.4 FM Channel for Gyan Vani, the radio medium of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
He has authored the following books – ‘Novu neeguva kaayakadalli kanda badulu belaku’ which is in its 6th reprint and won the Shankara Pratishthana Award, Healing Touch’, ‘Vaidyana Hattu Mukhagalu’, ‘Belli belaku, suvarna baduku’ in its third edition, ‘Badavara baadami’ which is published by Kannda Book Authority, Government of Karnataka. A book on his life was published under the title – Hahnemann, Homoeopathy and Dr. B. T. Rudresh.
Various governments - both at centre and state – have recognised the importance of his experience and wisdom for the shaping of society. Thus, he has been nominated to various professional bodies by both state and central governments. He was member of the Central Council of Homoeopathy and the Governing Council of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, New Delhi, both under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. He was also a member of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission, and the Syndicate of RGUHS. In the recently held elections, his Syndicate has won all the posts of Members of Karnataka Homoeopathy Board with an overwhelming majority. He has been elected as National Vice President.
Pioneering the projection of Homoeopathy on television medium way back in the early 1990s, he has conceived, scripted, directed and presented documentaries like ‘Hahnemann and Homoeopathy, Doordashan Karnataka and National Channel’, ‘Milestones in Human-Care over Doordashan Kendra, Karnataka’, ‘The Genius of Hahnemann’ - A Kannada adaptation on Doordashan Kendra, Karnataka, ‘Homeopathy & Hahnemann - English Documentary for National Channel’, ‘Infertility and Homoeopathy - English Documentary on DD Bharthi an international channel of Doordashan’. He has also made around 250 presentations on various private TV Channels, with themes ranging from medical advice to social reformation. His portrayal of a Homeopathic doctor on the highly popular Kannada serial ‘Muktha Muktha’ in 2012, made Homoeopathy a household name across the Kannada speaking world. In 2013, he completed 100 episodes on Zee Telefilms for health based program, which was telecast across the globe. A public function was organised to commemorate the success of 100 episodes by Zee TV at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore, in which the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Shri. Siddaramaiah was the Chief Guest. During this function, upon the request made by Dr. B. T. Rudresh, the Hon’ble Chief Minister promised to sanction thirty Homeopathic hospitals in Karnataka for the current budget year and sanction one Homeopathic dispensary for every taluka of Karnataka during the budget year 2014 – 15. Dr. Rudresh has been assiduously following up the matter with the government at various levels for realising this dream project for Homoeopathy in Karnataka state.
He has delivered various lectures on Homoeopathy and presented cases at international, national and state level conferences as well in various colleges across India.
Considering his contributions to the society various governments and organisations have honoured him with various awards. A popular organisation from Madhya Pradesh has given him the literary award of ‘Sahitya Shree’, Bangalore City Corporation has bestowed him with ‘Kempe Gowda Award’, the Karnataka Government gave him the ‘Rajyothsava Award’ and the ‘Hahnemann Gold Medal’, ‘Best Teacher Award’ by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. Shankara TV has bestowed upon him the Ugadi Puraskar in 2012. Shankara Pratishthana, a prestigious publishing house of medical literature has recognised his contributions in the field of medical literature, as a mark of recognition to the books that he has authored.
The prestigious “Nadoja” title from HAMPI Kannada University on its Silver Jubilee, was conferred on Dr. B.T Rudresh in 2017, the only person among 6 crore Kannadigas to be bestowed this Honour.
He has taken a research work (Ph.d) of female infertility through D. Y. Patil deemed to be University from 2018. The contributions of Dr. B. T. Rudresh will be appreciated by the coming generations of not only the healthcare practitioners, but the entire population that benefits from the pragmatic reforms that he can generate for the future of healthcare in this country.
The Homeopathic Medical Association of India, unopposed during National Congress held in Patna Nov. 25th 2018. In all these capacities, he has justified the faith reposed in him by contributing to the positive development of these organisations. His approach to social reformation is exemplary and archetypal of a model statesman. In his capacity as a teacher, the distinction that he makes between teacher who is responsible for the growth of his students and a mentor or guru who enables students to be responsible for their growth is worth citing as a benchmark for success. In living up to this role of mentorship, he has transcended beyond the limits of being a mere classroom teacher to an embodiment of beacon light to a legion of young homeopathic practitioners. His personality is a role model not only for the medical profession, but also for the entire young generation; the future of the country that needs to learn lessons in leadership and social justice.
With a busy practice that has spanned for nearly four decades, Dr. Rudresh has won the affection and respect of patients from all over the world. For the past thirty eight years, he has treated an average of 150 patients per day, crossing the grand total beyond 20 lakh patients till now. His legion of patients, especially the childless couple have blessed him with many awards of blessings. His success in enabling more than 3000 couples beget children is a world record for a single centre study with non invasive therapy for treating infertility and having authentic documentation of each case.
